During a very recent house of commons "Written Answers" session the new fisheries minister Huw Irranca Davies stated that according to the scientific advice and evidence, the Bass stocks are being fished sustainably,
This is why Bass are a non quota species and why commercial Bass fishermen have a "Non Pressure Stock Licence" (PSL),
This was also the reason why the previous Minister scrapped the new MLS for Bass,
If this is the case, why are Sea Fishery Committee's pushing for RSA bag limits for Bass?
Any Thoughts Guys???

The SFC's push toward bag limits for Bass by the RSA sector can only be seen as reserving the current stock for the commercial sector, when you consider that the majority of anglers would only catch a handful of bass several times a year (with many of those returned) it could only ever have the smallest of impacts on stocks ! Let's have the minimum landing size increased (and enforced) to at least 42cm - in the meantime anglers could adopt such a mls or greater for themselves, I would suggest that most anglers would feel pretty guilty keeping any Bass that small anyway.
